Gender and the Law: Unintended Consequences, Unsettled Questions
The Radcliffe Institute hosts its eighth annual conference on gender on March 12–13, 2009. This conference will convene judges; legal practitioners; and scholars of law, the humanities, and the social sciences from around the world to explore the ways in which legal regulations and gender influence each other. From varying historical and cultural perspectives, participants will address legal encounters with gender in the essential spaces of daily life: the body, the home, school, work, the nation, and the world.

Improving Decision Making: Interdisciplinary Lessons from the Natural and Social Sciences
The individual decisions we make have a broad impact on many pressing, large-scale issues, including our personal well-being and the well-being of our families, work-life balance, retirement planning, conflict resolution, the health of our planet, and the stability of our global financial systems. On April 17, 2009, participants at Radcliffe's annual science symposium will discuss empirical and theoretical advances toward understanding, and improving, human decision making.
